The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) is an independent and volunteer-based humanitarian organization with a permanent presence in Syria, dedicated to providing assistance to vulnerable people and alleviating human suffering.
SARC was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 1946. SARC is committed to the Geneva Conventions and seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
SARC was founded in 1942, according to Decree No /540/ and Decree /177/ which regulates the work conducted by the organization.
SARC was awarded the Peace Prize of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent in Sydney, Australia, in 2013.
